In fact, if you look at a banyan tree, you can see its roots aboveground as well—a palpable foundation.

ii. Our History

The story of Banyan Tree Companies begins with our founder, Pravin Chauhan. Chauhan acquired his first hotel in Bakersfield, CA in 1977. There Mr. Chauhan began to sow the seeds of his dreams and to root his new business in the values and traditions he learned growing up in a small city in India. His inherited work ethic and innate drive were keys to the success of his initial steps forward.

Through the 1980s and 1990s, Mr. Chauhan worked tirelessly to expand and improve the business. From the beginning, he knew the best way to understand the industry was through involvement and immersion in every part of operations. This same thoroughness has defined Banyan Tree Companies ever since, as a business dedicated to all aspects of our industry.

Mr. Chauhan has led Banyan Tree Companies through 30 years of success. His guidance has helped to build a strong portfolio of properties, which now encompass hotel development and management, residential development, office development.
